nothing I plug into USB works

I plug my devices into usb and vista does a driver search and comes back
empty. every thing works on my xp systems, but I can't get vista to
recogonize anything

What sort of devices are you trying to install? Usually with a USB device,
one installs the drivers BEFORE connecting the hardware to the PC.
