notepad not working

when i try to open the notepad in my accessories a window
pops up saying that i have a problem with shortcut can
anyone help...thanks

right click on the desktop and select "new" -- "shortcut"
<type> notepad.exe <enter>
press <enter> again

Your shortcut should be restored

To create a new "Notepad" shortcut in the accessories group do the
following;

First locate "Notepad.exe" in the Windows directory. Right click and select
"copy" from the dropdown menu. Then go to the "Accessories" directory
located in your user name group, which should be;

C:\Documents & Settings\(your user name here)\Start
Menu\Programs\Accessories

Right click in the Accessories list and select paste from the dropdown menu.
You may get a message with wording along the lines of "a copy of this file
already exists, would you like to replace it?" If you get said message,
answer "yes."
