Notepad doesn't work

Recently (11.21.03) I've tried to open *.txt files and
couldn't do it. Then I tried to manually open
notepad...and I found that my notepad icon looks different
than it used to and notepad won't open up. Any
suggestions on how I can get my favorite text editor back?

You can try Run>sfc /scannow and replace Notepad, but I'd first scan
with a current antivirus program (post-2002 version using updated
definitions) because losing Notepad functionality can be a symptom of
virus infection.
