having set up existing email account on Windows Mail on new laptop (Vista) I
keep getting the following message when press send/receive to collect emails

'Your server has unexpectedly terminated the connection. Possible causes for
this include server problems, network problems, or a long period of
inactivity. Account: 'pop.onetel.net', Server: 'pop.onetel.net', Protocol:
POP3, Port: 110, Secure(SSL): No, Error Number: 0x800CCC0F'

can anyone help please?

Email scanning should be turned off in any anti-virus. It provides no
protection not provided by the regular resident protection. Beside that,
McAfee and Norton are not compatible with Windows Mail.

I have turned off email scanning on the norton av and problem persists - have
also tried disabling the norton av completely but that doesn't fix it either-
would it be worth uninstalling norton and replacing it with other av??

Yes. We have received many reports here of people who obtained
no relief until Norton was completely uninstalled.
