Not Happy With Express Upgrade System....

I sent in my paperwork for Vista Express Upgrade months ago, due to the
shipping I expected that I may not get it on luanch day. I waited a few days
after launch but did not get the disk, so I checked the order tracking site
which had no ship date listed. Finally I called Gateway they said to send an
email which was never answered, so I called Bestbuy who gave me a number to
call. It took me an hour to get through but when I did I was told that I
wouldn't get the disks till mid Feburary!

This angers me for 2 reasons:

1. I put in my request 2 months before launch yet someone could walk into
BestBuy and get it first? Thats BS!

2. How hard would it have been to be kept informed about this? I sent in
all the paperwork and NEVER got an confirmation of it even being recieved
much less when it would be shipped. I might not have been happy being told of
the later shipping date but at least I would have known that it would be sent
out!

I shouldn't be surprised, its like this with most rebates, which is why I
very seldom ever bother with them. Next time they should provide you with a
voucher, so all you have to do is walk in a store with voucher and walk out
with a DVD or provide those of us luck enough to have broadband an
opportunity to download it.

I have just basically posted the same thing - I ordered in December and
cannot get any response from the company, emails go unanswered and the phone
number is unobtainable.

I fear we won't get the upgrade!

They will be sending you a Gateway customized OEM version of the
upgrade, not the retail one you can buy at Best Buy. They get these at
dramatically reduced prices from the retail version, so a voucher would
have cost them too much...

Just been back to my vendors site and they have no changed it to read -
shipping will start after the retail launch at the end of January! Might get
it by March then!

Cy, I understand all that. I think that since I put my order in for the disk
long ago, just think its rotten that someone can walk into a store and get it
weeks before I can.

topofall try calling: 800 817 5602 thats how I got through.

The situation is mostly the same with those of us who bought Dells
with the same Express Upgrade offer. The only difference is that OURS
won't ship till LATE APRIL!!!!

Man, I'm P*****!!!
Let's see if I buy ANOTHER Dell system anytime soon!!!

Listen to us, Mr. Dell!!!

Your customers are MAD as HELL!!!

I agree, it sucks. But, we are stuck. Maybe SP1 will be out before we
get our disks, so there may be an upside... ;-)

well if you did the upgrade through the microsoft upgrade website then they
upgrade cd should arrive between 2-4 weeks after the release date.

I don't get why they take such a long time, they should have shipped
it on the day of the launch. And they don't even take the promise of
4-6 weeks, their website says april, which is more like 10 weeks.
