NOT flushing?

XP computer was sharing my cable modem through it with
two other computers, one XP one ME. Saturday morning it
stopped working. Hitting repair a connections nets me

The following steps of repair operation failed:
Renewing the IP address.
flushing the ARP cache

please contact your network admin or ISP

WHAT does that mean?

Don't worry about the ARP cache, concentrate on renewing the IP address.

Try typing "ipconfig /renew" at a command prompt and post the results.

I had this same problem and I've just done what you said,
typed "ipconfig/renew"... my results... "This operation
failed as no adapter is in the state permissible for this
operation.

Yuck, have you tried reinstalling the adapter in device manager?
