"Not connected"

Jay

Hello. Thanks for reading.

I'd like to know why when I send a webpage by email, after clicking send, I
see in the Outlook Express pop-up status window the phrase "not connected."
Don't get me wrong, I'm sending the pages just fine. But still, this seems
weird to me. When, per the Outlook Express manual, I go...
a.. If you are using Windows XP, click Start, click Control Panel, click
Network and Internet Connections, click Internet Options, and then click the
Connections tab. .... I don't see any connections. I assume this is vecause
I have broadband. Could my status as a broadband user somehow be behind the
appearance of this message? If so, where do I find the information on my
account and make sure it's "properly recognized." Thanks a ton.

Jay

P.S. Since this inquiry deals with multiple issues, I'm going to post it in
the Outlook Express general newsgroup as well.

1. I'm no guru, but ... yes, it sounds like a DSL vs. dialup
issue. You probably have some dialup e-mail accounts still
listed in your OE Tools, Accounts section? Or, one or more of
them say to use the dialup instead of LAN for connection?
Look over the options for each account in OE's Tools; Accounts
boxes. You'll probalby spot something there that will explain
it.

2. When you want to post to more than one newsgroup, you should
do it all in one posting. Just put the names of each newsgroup
in the "Newsgroups:" line, separated by commas or semi-colons,
just like in email when you send to more than one person.
That way, reading a post in one group automatically cancels it
in BOTH groups, so people don't have to see the same message
multiple times after already having read it once. You can also
set "followup to" so that ny responses from any of the named
groups will all show up in only ONE group - making it easier for
you to check the responses.
You might have to click View, All Headers, to see the
followups option line. Very handy.
What you did is called multiple posting, and it's generally
frowned upon, and invites flames in some groups <g>. This is NOT
a flame; just trying to help.

HTH,
