NORTON WON'T DIE!!

Hey all! Last time I was on here I received some excellent advice so I just
thought I'd check with you guys first before I threw my laptop out the
window.

I was running Norton 360 as it seems to be the only version that's Vista
compatible. However it was giving me some error about not being able to
connect Live Update. I called tech support and they said to uninstall and
reinstall it. Well I uninstalled it and then my computer could no longer
connect to the internet. I checked the firewall settings, the Defender
settings, followed all the tech steps, and nothing! So I had to do a system
restore from a point about 2 day ago. Perfect worked like a charm I'm back
online. I go to reinstall Norton 360 and it says, "Cannot install as there is
a previous version of Norton Internet still active". Then it basically says
that it cannot install 360 until Norton Internet is removed. First of all
I've never had that program and it was never installed. Second and most
importantly I go to the uninstall menu and there's Norton 360, just sitting
there! Well I promptly click on that little bastard and do uninstall. Then I
get an error message saying, "The specified module could not be found." I'm
thinking after I uninstalled Norton 360 then had to do that System restore,
the restore put some Norton 360 files back on my computer. Not enough that it
can be a full program and I can uninstall it, but just enough that my
computer still thinks it's there but can't remove it. What a horrible catch
22! I called Symantec and obviously they blame it on Vista and say contact
Microsoft. And Microsoft wants $50 just to talk with them. In the meantime
I've bought both their products and they are still effing up :( Can anyone
offer this lost soul some guidance? Thank you so much for taking the time to
read through this.
