Norton Ghost Problem - Bad Used MFT Record

Since I can't get a posting on the Norton website (I've recieved a Server
Error for two weeks), I am trying here. I receive the above error about an
MFT record and, according to Symantec, the problem has been solved with a
new version of Ghost (5.1d). I downloaded this version but can't figure out
how to upgrade the floppy that I run Ghost from. I am trying to clone an
NTFS disk. Can anybody help with clear directions? My OS is Windows XP
Pro. Thanks.......

Bobby:

Why not just create a new floppy?:
Boot Win XP
Open Ghost 2003
Click on Ghost Utilities in left col
Select Norton Ghost Boot Wizard in right pane
Select Standard Ghost Boot Disk, then click Next.

floppy
would only give me a duplicate of what I already have. What I need is the
new version of Ghost (5.1d). Am I missing something?

Bobby:

Look for installation instructions on the web site where you dnloaded the
file.
(generally, you would dbl click on the file you dnloaded)
Then create a new floppy from within the upgraded program.

Thanks, I did that. I'm using a WinXP machine and the process won't work in
this environment. So, I tried to upgrade on a DOS machine and received an
error. The instructions from Symantec are not clear at all.

Nortons Ghost 2002 does not work with NTFS file system.
Nortons Ghost 2003 will.

I not sure if norton ghost 2002 will work If change XP to fat32 use.
Which I will tell you is a major work.

Ghost 2002 most certainly does work with NTFS. I have used Ghost 2002
many, many, many times with WinXP using NTFS. The only thing Ghost 2002
can not do with NTFS is to store a image file to a NTFS partition.

It is obviously not a boot manager problem.

Sorry, I have no other idea what is causing the mft error or how to
fix it.

A boot manager.
You can choose which operating system to load at boot time. If you
computer is set up that way.
