Norton Ghost - Maybe off-topic

If this is off-topic, sorry....

I'm replacing the HD in my notebook, because I've run out of space....

I have an external HD (USB, Maxtor OneTouch). What I want to do is create
an image of the old notebook computer, via Norton Ghost 9.0, on the Maxtor,
then replace the notebook's HD, and move the image back to the notebook
(onto the new, bigger drive).

First, I can do this with Ghost, can't I?

Second, can I install Ghost onto my networked desktop, and run it from
there? I don't think I can make enough space on the existing notebook HD to
install it there.

Thanks.

What ghost will do is create an exact copy of the xp already installed on the
laptop including the settings. If you copy it to the hdd it may not work
properly as it was customized for the laptop.

You can't write to the new harddrive in the notebook if there is no
operating system on it.
You will have to do a new install then copy the other stuff back from the
USB drive.
