Norton Antivirus/ Internet Security

I loaded Defender and now I cannot run Norton Antivirus, Norton Internet
Security. Additionally, Internet Explorer will not allow me access to
Norton's website. It has also prevented me from getting to McAfee's website.
Frankly, I suspect Microsoft has hijacked my computer. Beta or not, this is
completely unacceptable.

I have tried uninstalling and reinstalling Norton, I have uninstalled
Defender, and I am still having problems. I would not use Defender until
Microsoft has fixed the problem, one that should not have occurred in the
first place.

You seem to be describing the tatics of a Trojan hijacker, NOT Windows
DEfender. Have you tried an online scan with Wndow Live Safety Center, Trend
Micro, or Panda. If you can't to those web sites try Ewido.net. Have you
checked your Hosts file?

I had exactly the same problem today after I installed WDb2. It completely
broke my NIS 2005 firewall; when I went in to check firewall settings the
config boxes wouldn't even run; scripts for them were broken as well. I
uninstalled WDb2 then Sys Restored to before the WDb2 install, and all is
well. I definitely will not be installing WD again until it's ready for
prime time!
