Hi 24,

Not good, but you may like it.

Try Zone Alarm free, and if you like it buy it. Or don't. There are some problems with
Symantec and some OS's, and there are problems between Symantec and McAfee. I don't believe
they are all contrived, but it looks like what Bill Gates is doing with his merchandise.
Make it work better, if it all comes from the same place. I have Zone alarm, and it has
always lived up to my expectations, and it doesn't have a business to take over the world,
unlike "the Brain".

Ummm.... Isn't Zone Alarm a firewall, not an AV app??
I have to say I found ZA so awkward to configure for my home network that I
gave up on it and paid for Norton Personal Firewall instead. As to AV
software, I've been running some variant of Norton Anti-Virus since the days
of Windows 3 and it's always done exactly what it says on the box - provided I
remember to keep the definitions up-to-date. Unless you're really paranoid,
why would you want to run more than one AV app?? AV+ Firewall definitely.
[Of course, some folks'll tell you you _must_ have a hardware firewall.]

Usual disclaimers.

Merry Yule!

Well, if you misunderstood, maybe Candee could have also. Candee, I see where you
considering using McAfee for your new firewall. I suggested to use the free firewall by ZA,
and if you liked it, buy it. Or use Norton. There have been issues between Symantec and the
OS.

Just have a great holiday.

I guess I could do with one. Then I mightn't read only half the posting. ;-)

You have one too.
