non-Western (non-Latin) character sets

I have made no changes to my Outlook 2003, but now I keep getting e-mails
bounced back with this:

(e-mail address removed)1.secureserver.net
The user does not accept email in non-Western (non-Latin) character sets.

And these are coming back from people who I used to be able to e-mail all
the time.

What do I need to do to NOT send e-mail containing non-Western character sets?

Thanks much -

Sorry for the delay over the weekend.

When you compose a message, check Format -> Encoding; what is it set to?

Hey Pat,
It's FORMAT > ENCODING > AUTO-SELECT

And I really appreciate your help. I run a home-based design business and
this is killing me. I send replies or files to clients and find out days
later that they never received them.
Very frustrating!!

If you need to try to send me an e-mail my address is
(e-mail address removed)

Thanks again!

Hi Kristen,

Strange, I don't see Auto-Select when I check Format -> Encoding on my
newly created message. I see first a few recently used encodings, then
below More... which expands a number of available encodings.

Can you try to set your encoding explicitly to US-ASCII (if you don't
use any European characters, or otherwise to Western European (ISO).

I know, I have currently an issue with our corporate Anti-Virus software
that swallows outgoing mail without a trace - this is really a pain!

Post back here if you continue to have troubles.

Regards,
Pat
