My scroll wheel produces a sqeaky sound in IE 7. Can I turn it off? Can't
find the sound in the sound options.

Control Panel> Sounds. Check out "notification" sounds. If I remember
correctly there are two of these - one for Internet Explorer and one for
Windows Explorer/shell. These are the little "click" noises that sound when
you click on something. I set these to "none."

Oh wait! For the scroll wheel... Windows doesn't have a setting for that.
If you have mouse software installed, there may be a setting in it for a
scroll wheel sound. Also are you sure it's a sound? Maybe you just have a
squeaky scroll wheel and you only notice it in IE since that's where you
use the wheel the most?

no luck..sound is coming from my speakers..more suggestions?

Do a search for:

*.wav

Test the many files till you find the sound. Delete or rename the file.
See if you can tell by its folder location what program is calling it.
