Accessibility Options / Num Lock key & Sounds

I recently set up the accessibility options so I could use the Num
Lock key when browsing (as the mouse left click). I have all of the
sound related options unchecked so there should be no sounds when I
press the Num Lock key, but every time I press it I get the
notification sounds.

I've tried to find a solution, but no luck.

Anyone know how to disable the sounds (without telling me to use the
options in the accessibility options box)?

I assume that to mean you have gone to every tab in Accessibility
Options and unchecked every box relating to sounds or beeps, including
clicking every Settings button and disabling them there too.

In other words, you have gone to the Keyboard tab, clicked the Settings
button for Sticky Keys and Filter Keys and unchecked the boxes for
sounds, and also unchecked the box to disable Toggle Keys. In addition,
you have gone to the Sound tab and unchecked the boxes there, and to the
General tab and unchecked the sound option there also. Is that correct?

If so, and again assuming that you haven't installed any tweaks or
utilities that are causing the beep, try disabling beeps altogether on
your computer and see if that works:

Open Device Manager, click the View menu> Show Hidden Devices.
Expand "Non-Plug and Play Drivers", right-click on "Beep" and disable
it.
Don't reboot when prompted.
Right-click on Beep again, click Properties.
On the Driver tab, change the Startup Type to Disabled, then click the
Stop button if available.
Close Device Manager and reboot.

have now disabled the beep. I had previously looked for the Beep in
the Sounds and Audio Effects / Sounds / Program events / Windows list,
but it wasn't there; though I just noticed a Default Beep line, with
(None) for the Sounds selection.

If I could expand this a little, in looking at the Sounds and Audio
Effects / Sounds / Program events listings, I have four lines with
items for AVG which I uninstalled a while ago. Is there any way to
remove these from the listings?

As for the sound events in Control Panel> Sounds, for AVG, that were
left over, first try running the AVG Removal Tool:

For XP 32-bit, you would download and then run "AVG Remover(32bit) 2012"
http://download.avg.com/filedir/util/avgrem/avg_remover_stf_x86_2012_2125.exe

It removes all the parts of your AVG installation, including Registry
items, installation files, user files, etc.. The Sound entries are in
the Registry, so it may remove those.

If not, then you will have to manually edit the Registry and delete the
AVG sound events key. I don't recommend editing the Registry if you
have never done it before. All edits should be prefaced by backing up
the key you are planning to delete.

The key containing the AVG sound entries should be under this key:
HKEY_CURRENT_USER\AppEvents\Schemes\Apps

If you expand that Apps key, you should see a sub-key probably named
AVG, which in turn has sub-keys for each listed AVG sound. You would
back up and then delete the AVG key.
