Noisy cooling fan

I have a Radeon 8500 le and the cooling fan is very noisy.
I have sprayed it with WD-40 but to no avail.
Haven't heard back from ATI whether they sell a replacement fan. Seems hard
to find in the computer stores around the Vancouver area.
Any ideas where I could get a replacement fan specific to this card?
Any other suggestions.

WD-40 is a water dispersant, NOT a lubricant. It has very short lived
lubrication abilty and can make the situation worse as it has a tendancy to
dry things out (disperses water) then evaporates off.

I've stuck a Zalman ZM80A-HP on my 9800 Pro... They also do another cooler,
can't remember if it's passive or not, and what cards it supports - check
their website out.

A whole assortment of fans are made by the likes of YS-Tech, but where you'd
buy a compatible one from I don't know. It might be worth asking a smaller
store that stocks some YS-Tech fans, but most are of the 60, 80 or 120mm
form.

Just screw an 80mm to the heatsink (mounts very securely on mine) - your
card'll run much cooler, especially if you regoop (and lap the sink).
Then you can overclock it nicely.

An 80mm what?

especially if you regoop (and lap the sink).
What do you mean by regoop and "lap the sink"?

How do you overclock this card?

thanks.

Fan.

App called Powerstrip - excellent bit of kit.
I use it to o/clock a Gigabyte Radeon 9700 Pro from default 325/620 to
420/720 - but with a modified Slim Volcano to cool the VPU (that things
kicks out a LOT of heat).

there is a bicycle oil called ice wax. (lots of them actually). I
have used this on other small fans. Take the fan off (just undo the
screws don't bother to remove the heatsink etc) and put one drop in the
fan. You should be good to go again.
