Nod32 version 2 observations

NOD and eTrust are BOTH ICSA Certified AV products.....as are MOST major
AV scanners...
Either one gives "ICSA-certified protection, detection, cleaning, etc"

quit clouding the issues Blevins..............and being a NOD shill....it
is so pathetically transparent.

Etrust actually is having less impact/footprint on my
system than NOD did and THAT is saying something.

Yes, I believe it does use less resources. However, it was my
experience while using ETrust that it doesn't fare anywhere near as
well as NoD32 and some others in virus/malware detection.

Read it again. I never mentioned anything about ICSA Certified AV
products. I only gave my opinion based upon my experience with it. As
for shilling it, I couldn't care less what anyone uses.

OK Blevins....I never said you did mention ICSA...you still want to cloud
the issues........

My very valid and helpful point is that ANY of the 15 or so brands of AV
that are currently ICSA-Certified are virtually equal in the areas
mentioned (detection, cleaning, etc) or they would not be ICSA-certified.

This whole "which AV is best" never-ending crapola debate is just
that.......CRAP.

Folks.......just install any ICSA-certified AV product and make sure it can
auto-update....and get on with actually using your computer instead of
obsessing over NAV, KAV,Panda,EZ,NOD etc..etc..etc... (puke! puke!)

Charlie, you may want to dig a bit deeper into ICSA certification. It might
be analogous, perhaps, to a "ISO 9001 registration". Yeah, there are basic
criteria that must be satisfied to get it and maintain it. But, it by no
means levels the playing field (meaning all those certified are equal in
effectiveness, etc., etc.). See where this is going?

However, he does have a valid point where it comes to a number of
certified products being just as adquate in terms of protection then
the next.

If you take for example the top 4 or 5 products, they may all have
adequate detection, but the fact is they do vary in terms of GUI
features, resource usage and such. That is where I have found such
discussions to be interesting. I've tried out a number of products
simply because I had read a discussion on them and my interest was
peaked.

Yeah. The point you make about "adequacy" is the same point I was making.
I read a book one time, I believe it was called "Can be we equal and
excellent too?", by John Gardner.
Obviously, his was a sociological/political examination.
I would agree that, as a minimum, ICSA certification should be a factor in
selecting a product.

Perhaps you should restate that hehehehehe
You mean NAV gets close to equaling NOD in virus detection
(see VB magazine)
