no volume icon

Hello, my volume icon isn't showing on my taskbar. As a result, I can't hear
anything. I tried rebooting the computer and going to "Control Panel", but
nothing seems to help. Any suggestions?

Did you on the "Control Panel" go to "Sounds and Audio
Devices", "Volume" and verify that the "Place volume icon in the taskbar" is
checked? If it is NOT; check it. If it IS checked, then you could have
problems with the drivers for the sound card. If so; reinstall them.

There is one additional thing you could try. As Ka2H stated, uncheck the
"Place volume icon in the taskbar" and click ok. Exit out of "Sounds and
Audio
Devices" then exit out of "Control Panel." Now return to "Control Panel"
and "Sounds and Audio Devices" and recheck the "Place volume icon in the
taskbar." Sometimes the computer gets confused and requires a soft kick in
the pants as a reminder.
