No volume control & no sound

I apparently lost my windows audio services at some point today and didn't
realize it until I tried to play something on HotAir.com. I have restarted
the windows audio services and reconfigured my sound preferences, but no
audio is heard when I try to play the web clip. In addition, even though I
have checked the volume control on taks bar, it isn't appearing there.

What do I need to do to fix this?
Thanks!
Sue

Sue, go to Control Panel>Sound and Audio Devices. Look for any adjustment
you can make. Uncheck Mute Boxes etc.
Look in Hardware Tab and check to see if your audio devices are there. If
none show up or are greyed out then if you have
a Software CD that came with the Computer look for Audio Driver on it and
reinstall it.

Thank you Rich, very much.
