no video with messenger

I installed Logitech QuickCam Express (driver version
8.1) on XP Pro system with SP1. Currently I'm not able to
use it with messenger 6.1 for video conversations. When
running the audio/video wizzard from messenger the system
tells me that camera is not ok or already in use by other
application. I updated all drivers and ensured no other
app is using video. Also device manager shows only the
camera as imaging device. When selecting the webcamera
settings in Messenger I can see current camera video.
Also other apps can use the camera.

Any help appreciated

If you are using the mic built into the camera, that may be the problem. Do
not use that, get a $15. mic at Office Depot or such and plug into the Sound
Card and rerun the Wizard and make sure to select the sound card and mic as
the source for sound and of course the camera for video. Just watch what
you are doing and make sure you are selecting properly.
