No video in monitor pane

I imported a MPG (MPG-2) into MM2 and when I try to review the video I get
audio but no video in the "monitor" pane. Note that this file plays just fine
in Media Player.

Suggestions?

Also, I'm learning how to transfer my HI-8 tapes so that I can do basic
editing and simple effects before burning to DVD. Can anyone recommend a good
Web site containing tips and best practices for rookies?

Hi Scott,

You should convert MPEG-2 files to AVI files before using in Movie Maker...
see the Importing Source Files > Video > MPEG-2 page of www.papajohn.org

And while there, the Online > Tutorials and References page should get you
to some good links.
