I have Windows XP Home Edition. My motherboard is an MSI K7N2-Vand the chip
is an Athlon(tm) XP 2800+ (2.08 GHz, 512 MB of RAM). The sound card is a
NVIDIA(R) nForce(TM) Audio Codec Interface.
Anyway, I have four speakers and a sub-woofer from Cambridge Soundworks.
Before I had to re-install Windows XP (due to a virus), the system worked
just fine with all my video games (Ghost Recon, Rogue Spear, etc). Now,
regardless of the speaker configuration I use (surround, quadrophonic, 5.1,
etc.), only the two front speakers function.
I have already checked the hardware and all speakers are fully functional
(switched cables to make sure). I also checked the cables themselves for
signs of physical damage and they are fine.
If it's not hardware, it's software ... what am I missing? Thanks in
advanced.
PS - I had the "experts" at the local computer shop do the full re-install
of the Windows XP to make sure I wasn't messing it up and it seems they did a
fine job with it (except I still have this audio issue).
