No Sounds when opening and/or closing Windows

In the Control Panel under Sounds and Audio Devices,
(the "Sounds" tab), I have customized the menu to play
certain sounds (for example, when minimizing screen, when
opening and closing Windows). I have tested my speakers
under Sound Effect Manager (Test Speakers) and they test
out just fine. However, none of the sound effects I have
chosen in Sounds and Audio Devices ("Sounds" tab) will
play. Am I missing something here?

After you changed your sound scheme settings did you click OK? If yes, that
is incorrect. You must click Apply first then OK to set and save settings. Once
you are satisfied you can give the sound scheme a name and save the settings.
