No Sound

I have XP Pro, a SiS 7012 onboard sound card and since I had XP reloaded
last week I cannot get any sound.
If I go to Programs - Accessories - Entertainment there is no Volume control
and if I try to test the volume in the Control Panel - Sounds & Audio
devices - Audio - Volume I get a Windows Error message:-

'Windows cannot execute SndVol32.exe, use Add/Remove Programs control panel
to install.'

Install what?

You need to install drivers for your onboard sound. Get them from either
your computer mftr.'s website (if an OEM, like HP or Dell) or the
motherboard mftr.'s website.

I've now managed to get my sound back by restoring some old drivers but I
still have no volume control and get the same message as before.
Any further ideas?
