no sound

I am unable to hear any sound. Under sounds speech audio...sounds audio devices
....vloume I see no audio device. ( sound was working previouisly)audio
default device is listed as modem #0 line playback. hardware list the
following hardware
unimodem half duplex audio device
audio codecs
legacy audio drivers
media control devices
legacy video capture devices
video codecs
all are shown to be working and drivers are updated. Any suggestions?

Your codecs are still installed... Unless you're using a combo card (rare
these days), there is no sound card being recognized. (Half duplex modem is
a modem that has one way voice capabilities - this is sound related but not
"sound" in the sense of Windows sounds, playing CDs, etc.)

Devices disappear from Device Manager when they have failed or they are not
seated properly. If a desktop, power off. Open case and reset existing
card.

I have the same problem with my sound, I am am using a dell
inspiron 9300 laptop and the sound was working in the past. ...... under
sounds and devices properties under volumn it shows no devices. Does this
mean my internal sound card has gone bad?

Or it has become disconnected. Would definitely contact Dell Support about
this situation if this was my laptop.
