No sound

I have no sound on my computer. Going into Control Panel-speech the Audio
device is shown as CMedia WDM audio device and is working correctly. Text to
speech shows output device as Audio Modem #1 line playback. None of the
click-down menus have any options.

I had the same problem. Go to Start, Control Panel, Administrative Tools,
Services, Windows Audio and make sure it's set on Automatic on Start Up. See
if that helps. It fixed my problem. I learned it here!!

i have sound for about half hour, then it fades to a very low distorted
volume. when i restart windows, the sound comes back. Any Clues?
