I have no volume on playback - It says I have no playback devices?

I followed the below instuctions as per my help & support section of my PC

"To adjust the volume for multimedia playback devices
Open Sounds and Audio Devices in Control Panel.
On the Audio tab, under Sound playback, click Volume.
In the Master Out dialog box, drag the Volume slider for the appropriate
device up or down to increase or decrease the output volume"

When I open sounds & audio devices & click on Audio tab & sound playback it
is telling me that I have no playback devices. This has only happened over
the last couple of days as prior to Christmas I was happily playing my itunes
library & there were no issues!

Can any advise as to what has happened & how I progress from here?

Click START - All Programs - Accessories - System Tools - System Restore

--> Restore my computer to an earlier time. NEXT

Pick a date - not too far back, but a date when you're sure your sound
was working. Complete the restore then see if you have sound again.

I've seen some of Microshit's hardware updates cause this problem. You
could look in Control Panel under Add/Remove Programs for any recent
Micro$haft updates and do an uninstall, but try the System Restore thing
first.

Good luck,
HJS
