No Sound while rcording thru Mic

Hello All,

Im using SB Audigy Audio B800. My comp records thru my mic fine. The
problem is, I can not hear the sound that I am recording as Im recording ....
neither thru the headphones nor the speakers. I can see the playback meters
as I am recording, and the comp records and plays back what I recorded fine.
I just can not hear it while Im recording it.

I have been thru the troubleshoot and everything checks out. I CAN even
hear thru the speakers while going thru the troubleshoot and see the meters
there. But nothing once I leave the troubleshoot.

Any ideas?

Your soundcard B800 does not exist on the Creative Website. Do you have
on-board sound or a PCI soundcard ? If the former, download the correct
drivers from the MAINBOARD manufacturer's site and re-install. If a PCI
card, then re-post with more info.

BTW, a SB Audigy has full duplex properties, in other words you can hear
what you record as you record.

Double click on the loudspeaker icon in the systray, bottom right of your
screen > make sure nothing is muted in playback except mic, and make sure
all the sliders are upto max. Did that work ?

As a follow on from the above, click on Properties > Record > OK > make sure
the correct input device is selected.

Just as a matter of fact, is this a recent problem or has it always been
like that ? If recent, try a system restore to a date prior to the problem
happening. You may have installed somethingthat has affected your S/C
drivers (doubtful, but .... )

Cheers,
Jerry

Thank you very much for your reply!

This is a recent issue. As of 4 months ago i'd say. I have been recording
for a few years and suddenly I'm having this problem. It's quite possible it
has something to do with something I have installed. I will try everything u
suggested, then come back with my results once I get home tonight.

Thanks!

HI!

OK

My soundcard is: Sound Blaster Audigy, DR Release 1.4.0. I have dbl
clicked on the loudspeaker icon in the systray, and nothing is muted in
playback and all the sliders are upto max. I have even been in the creative
mixer and tweaked everything there. Doesn't work. Again, I can record fine,
just no audio comes thru as I am recording. I have had this comp for 5
years. I have recorded without any probs. I did an Itunes install last year
Dec - I wonder if that affected my settings. I can't do a restore because it
won't go back to last year. My options for a restore go only to the
beginning of January 2007. I have uninstalled Itunes. But hasn't made a
difference.

Could my soundcard be showing signs of needing to be replaced?

OK - I went into the creative folder and did the diagnostics. I hit 'restore
default settings' and that seemed to work.

Thanks everyone. I unistalled Itunes as well.
