no sound when switching tabs or opening new ones

Hi,
I am hoping someone can help me. This morning it was working fine, now I
have no sound effects when switching tabs. I have sound on all web pages,
but want to have the "beep" sound when I switch or open a new tab. I am
using ie8 on windows xp.

I have tried so many things and can not figure this out! Please help.

IE8 doesn't have any sounds associated with creating or changing tabs.

Maybe I did not ask the correct question, but I have been working in Ie8 for
a while now and it always had sound. It just stopped yesterday.

Open "Sounds and Audio Devices", the Sounds tab, and check that there's
a sound associated with those events, such as Open Program, Program
Start, and others that used to have sound. If a sound is assigned,
click the "Play Sound" button to see if it's audible. If not, try
another sound, as a test.
