No sound on my captured video

I recently captured some home video with my mini-dv camera. sound plays as
i'm captured but when I play back in WMM there is no sound. What I'm I doing
wrong?

maybe capturing with a USB connection when a firewire cable is the preferred
connection for mini-DV camcorders with Movie Maker.

crashed and now I can't get any sound.
