No Sound From Speakers Hooked to Docking Station

I recently changed my OS from 2000 to XP on a Dell
Dimension Laptop. When on 2000 I could hear sound through
speakers connected to my docking station. Since the
change to XP I can only hear through my speakers when
they are plugged directly into the speaker port on the
laptop, but nothing when connected to docking station.
When they are connected to docking station sound is heard
from the laptop speakers. I have checked to insure
everything is setup correctly in the OS settings, and it
is. Anyone able to help?
