Just ran XP update and rebooted. I now have no sound.

- I have checked that the Windows Audio service is running (it is, and is
set for Automatic start).
- My SoundBlaster PCI is the default audio playback device
- Volume is turned up and nothing is muted
- My speakers are plugged in and turned on
- No audio source appears to work (mp3, system sound, CD, games)

Everything was hunky dory until I accepted Mr. Gates' latest update.

Any suggestions?

I believe the term I'm looking for is "stupid user error". I have a switch
in my speaker line that allows me to send the computer's sound output to
headphones instead of speakers. My 'missing sound' was caused by the switch
being in the wrong position.

*shrugs sheepishly*
