No Send receive

I have a new laptop with Vista and Windows Mail. It had the problem of the
message that wouldn't delete. I followed the advice of one of the MVPs and
deleted the two message stores. Now I can't send or receive. I get this
message;
Your server has unexpectedly terminated the connection. Possible causes for
this include server problems, network problems, or a long period of
inactivity. Account: 'Localnet (bsrc)', Server: 'mail.localnet.com',
Protocol: POP3, Port: 110, Secure(SSL): No, Error Number: 0x800CCC0F

I've gotten rid of McAffee and switched to AVG. I disabled the firewall. I
tried compacting. I switched to Windows Live Mail. Nothing helps. Anyone have
any real solutions?

The error message you supplied pertains to receiving only,
so I can't comment on your sending issue.

Are you still using WLM? The current build suffers from a bug
that causes it to try APOP authentication with some mail servers.
Your mail server, mail.localnet.com, is one of the few that triggers
this bug. Your only solution is to uninstall WLM, which will revert
you back to WM. Once you get back to WM, delete your mail account,
restart WM, then recreate that mail account. This is advisable
because the account was likely corrupted by McAfee. There is
no need to disable the Windows Firewall.

Let me know how it goes.

When you switched to AVG did you install it without the email integration (scanning). Email scanning should be disabled for incoming and outgoing emails.

Gary,

Thanks for the advice. It seems to have worked, I'm sitting here receiving
my mail right now. It has a bunch of recovered folders. I think I'll let them
alone.

Thanks Again!
