no safe mode

I have followed the instructions I found on xp help site
and knowledge base, but can't get my pc to start in safe
mode.Help!!

Hi DJ,

Hiting the F8 key at the right time is tricky. I just hold it down after the
bios screen comes on until the screen displays.
