no restore checkpoints

Windows XP is failing to create automatic checkpoints - I
can create them manually, but don't always remember.
Restore points created when eg updating installations,
etc.
Any help would be appreciated.
Thank you

Yes, it's enabled, and apparently 'monitoring' drive C:
(the only hard drive). There is plenty of spare space
available, too. I've just successfully restored to an
earlier (manually created) restore point (done as an
exercise, not for any particular reason - just wanted to
check it would work.)

Maybe you cleaned out the old restore points with the
advanced disk clean options. I've noticed XP creates only
restore points before you install something important like
security updates or drivers. So it might take a while
before you have more restore points to restore from.

Thanks - the help file says that it creates a 'system
restore checkpoint' daily, and I wondered why mine wasn't
doing that. I'm sure it used to. Seems I was mistaken.

you may have a program running in the backroud, such as
SETI, that does not allow 'idle' time on your computer. T

.
Goto my computer and right click on it and select
properties. In the properties menu choose system restore
and make sure the turn of system restore on all drives is
un checked. If it is already unchecked go to drive settings
and select setting and increase the amount of disk space
use by System Restore with the slider bar on that screen

Hope this Helps!

Thanks, but I've already done all that.

SETI? Don't recognise that. The only thing I've got
running in the background (AFAIK, other than windows
elements) is NAV. How would I check about this?
Menolly.
