No pixs in some emails and web sites

On more and more websites I get no pictures, only a blank box with an x in
it, also I cannot get e-cards

Does this happen to be a RED X? Most often you can solve this by cleaning
the IE (Internet Explorer) of Cookies and Temp files. But..........
