How are you connecting?
Firewire/usb?
Can you test the three components, cam/cable/pc port with other items you
cna see working now? It's not uncommon for items to fail and it may just be
coincidence that it happened when you installed vista.
Is the pc fully vista compatible?
Is the firewire if being used seperate or part of a video/audio card?
Have you ensuered this is compatible and updated any drivers needed?

i have a dell dimension e521 with a "AGERE OHCI Compliant IEEE 1394 Host
Controller"
i run all the tests i know of to ensure i'm fully compatible with vista.
(dell tells you the e521 is compatible) i've check to ensure my IEEE drive is
current. i have no other products to test with my firewire.
