I am new to Outlook 2003 but have used Outlook Express for a long time. I
want to be able to use newsgroups but am having a problem getting News set
up. I followed the instructions from help,
1.. Add the News command to the Go menu.
1.. On the Standard toolbar, click the Toolbar Options arrow .
2.. Point to Add or Remove Buttons, and then click Customize.
3.. Click the Commands tab.
4.. In the Categories list, click Go.
5.. In the Commands list, click News, and drag it, without releasing the
mouse, until it rests over the Go menu. When the menu displays a list of
commands, point to where you want the command to appear, and then release
the mouse.
2.. Click the Go menu, and then click News.
The problem is, in step 5, News is not a menu option. I can't drag it
anywhere if it isn't there in the first place. Any ideas on how to get news
operational would be appreciated. Thanks.

The only thing you neglected was to read the many thousand identical posts
in this newsgroup that answer your question.
Always worth doing.
Reposting:
To get the News command back, go back to the Programs tab in Control Panel |
Internet Options and change the default newsreader to Outlook Express. If
OE prompts you to make it your default newsreader the next time you launch
it, clear the "Always perform this check..." box and then click the No
button.

Thank you, your instructions worked. I appreciate your time and help.

By the way, before I posted here I did a search of this group for any
messages with the word "news" in either the subject or the body. I found 4
or 5 posts that all were about the relative merits of Outlook Express as a
news reader. There may have been thousands of posts at some time, but since
I stated that I was, "new to Outlook 2003", it would not take a great leap
of faith to assume that I wasn't a regular here. Being polite is, "Always
worth doing."

Have a nice day.

Odd.
In 2 seconds, I turned up 288,000 hits in this group alone.
http://groups-beta.google.com/group...ook&q=News&qt_g=1&searchnow=Search+this+group

The reason I knew was because I had just posted 10 of them in the last day.
Sorry. It just gets frustrating to answer the same posts over and over when
we have so little time.
