No minimized icons on taskbar

When i minimize my screens, they completely disappear and there is no icon on
the taskbar for me to click on to maximize. I have tried changing what is on
my taskbar and if I restart my computer immediately it usually goes back to
normal, but not today. I have Windows XP Professional with SP2.
