Putting Icons On Taskbar

B

I'm trying to put a Show Desktop icon, plus a few other shortcuts on the left taskbar
just to the right of the Start Menu. I unlocked the taskbar and tried to drag and drop
one of the icons to the taskbar and release. The icon doesn't show up. When I go to
Toolbars and check QuickLaunch, then the icons are visible on the taskbar where
they should be. However, the taskbar is twice as high, and I can't reduce it down
to the normal height with the mouse pointer. What am I missing here?

Thanks!
Scott

With the Taskbar unlocked, and the QL toolbar shown, click and drag the
vertical divider on the bottom line, that's between the Start button and
the QL toolbar, up to the top line and right of the QL items, and
release. Now you should be able to re-size the Taskbar, then re-size
the width of the QL toolbar.

Elmo has answered your question, but I want to add another point:

You are not talking about the task bar, but about the Quick Launch
Bar. By default, the Quick Launch resides *on* the task bar, but
that's optional. It can be dragged off (if the task bar isn't locked)
and moved to another side of the screen. One configuration that works
well for many people is to keep the task bar in its default position
(the bottom of the screen), but have the Quick Launch Bar on the left
side of the screen.

Elmo:

I followed your directions. It worked like a charm. I now have the icons on the taskbar
(QL bar), just where I wanted them.

Thanks!
