Will the system respond to keyboard to allow you into the BIOS or Safe Mode?

I too am experiencing this issue on a system using win2k. i am able to use
the keyboard to get into safe mode, the bios, etc. with no problems, even
after windows boots, the keyboard stays lit when choosing num lock, caps
lock, etc. it just will not type in the password field. any help ya'll could
give me is greatly appreciated.

If you boot into safe mode, fire up RegEdit and take a look at
HKEY_USERS\.DEFAULT\Keyboard Layout\Preload, what do you see?

You should see an entry called "1" with a value such as 0000809 or 0000409,
depending on your locale.

I wonder if the keyboard layout settings have become messed up.
