No internet with SMC1244tx

Hi guys,

I have completed the installation of a PC with a SMC1244tx nic card.
If I try to call up the internet, it fails with the regular microsoft
error html page.

Now, I have installed the driver from the company site (latest) as
Windows failed to recognize it. I have tested many PCI slots. I have
taken out every card but the nic card and the video card but still
nothing.

When I look for the ip stuff, I do get the IP given to me by my
externel cable modem (I am DHCP fully enabled).

What can the problem be??? I really don't get it.

Anyone has any thoughts?

Can you ping the IP address you get from DHCP? Can you ping your default
gateway? Can you ping your DNS servers?
