I have four computers on a network.
Three XP have operating Systems and one has Vista OS.
Two XP' are direct cable to the modem/router.
Once XP uses a wireless NIC card
The Vista uses a Netgear WG311v3 54 mps wireless to the modem/router.

None of the XP units ever lose the Internet connection.
But on the Vista, only when using Windows Mail, if I leave the computer for a several minutes, I return to find an error window graphics as follows.

I have looked at the Wireless NIC card device settings and the pwr saving settings are off.
Under Power Settings in the Control Panel, the Wireless NIC is set for MAX Performance.

I don't get this message if I leave while a web page is up.

Any help on what settings I might change would be appreciated.

The Vista Computer is a Dell Dimension 530. I use the wireless NIC because I am out of cable connections on the modem/router

In Windows Mail go to Tools, Accounts, select your mail account,
Properties, Connection. What does it show for connection?
You must either leave that unselected (in which case WM will use
whatever connection IE uses), or else select the Local Area Network.

Also, under Tools, Options, Connection, the first box should be checked,
and the second box unchecked.

Incidentally, you could have added a 5-port network switch for a lot less
than what you paid for that wireless Netgear WG311v3. For example:

Nothing is checked under connections in the account properties.
In Tools/Options/Connections why would I check the "ask before switching dialup connections" since I do not use dialup, but a DSL.
When I setup this new Vista computer, the 5-port Switch was not $10 and I already had the Netgear NIC from a computer I used in my shop where wireless was the only connection.

There is a remote possibility that Windows Mail is confused
about what type of connection you have. By having it ask you
when it wants to switch to a different connection, at least you
will have a clue as to what's happening.

The only thing I can think of is that your wireless connection
is failing intermittently. Can you try a hardwire connection to
the main router?
