no IE on XP

I tried to update my IE by installing version 6, and at
about 11% while installing it says that IE has not passed
the Microsoft XP logo test and will shut the installation
down. If IE 6 was made with support for XP...why is
this "logo" crap coming up, and how can I turn it off?
