No Icons for "Favorites"

Jason

In Internet Explorer, I can add a new website to my
favorites and click it later without a problem. However,
certain websites have their own custom icons (instead of
the default graphic of the Internet Explorer e on a blank
page); for instance, MLB.com has a baseball graphic,
University of Illinois has their "I" logo, etc. Whenever
I first add a new website to my favorites, if it has a
custom icon it will show up, but only for a few minutes,
and then it will revert to the default icon I described
above. Right now I have about 40 Favorites, and all of
them are showing up with the default icon. How do I get
the custom icons to show up permanently?

You're referring to Favicons, which are not native to Internet Explorer. You
need a 3rd party utility in order to maintain these in your system.

Favicons are usually lost when you delete your Temporary Internet Files.

It used to be freeware from PC MAG, but now requires a yearly subscription to
download.

Here's a link to the article that describes it.

There are other sources on the web. Do a Google search for "FavOrg" or this link
may still have it available:
