No graphics after install Vista Beta 2

After installing Vista Beta 2, I don't see any grphics on the desktop, just
the Vista Evaluation Build logo in the lower right corner of the screen.

There were no error messages displayed during the install. Is there a log
file I can look at to see if anything went wrong or needs fixing?

I cannot do anything in Vista as there is no desktop, only black space.
Ctrl-Alt-Delete does not even work; very puzzling.

System checked out OK using Upgrade Advisor. It is 2 GHz P4, NVIDIA GeForce
Ti4600 graphics adapter.

Any suggestions please?

That's not a SM2 graphic card. You'd need a FX5200/64MB at least for the
aero desktop to show correctly. Anyway, you should load Vista graphics
in "plain" mode. Please notice that when I first installed it, it dind't
show any graphics at all: after some minutes it simply rebooted, and
then it loaded normally.

The PC has 1 GB RAM. I've waited up to 2 hours after booting into Vista.
There was no hard disk activity, so I figured nothing was moving forward. I
would think that if anything was running, there would be an hourglass cursor,
but the cursor was the standard pointer.

Thanks for trying to help me.

I realize I won't get Aero. The adapter has 128 MB memory but does not
support Pixel Shader. A standard Vista interface will be fine to start out.
Anything would be better than the black screen I see now.

I'm not sure how to load Vista in "plain" mode. There was no installation
option for that. When the PC boots after installing, there are no options
labelled "plain" mode. I tried running in 640x800 low resolution mode, but
the screen is still black.

Thanks for trying to help me.

I've reinstalled 6 times. I've changed graphics adapters and network cards.
Also tried different versions of Vista, e.g., Business, Ultimate. Every time
I get the same result: no graphics when booting into Vista.

Does anyone know if there is a log file that records installation errors
that I can check? Of course I'll have to check it when I roll back to XP,
since nothing works in Vista for me. But I suspect the install log will not
be deleted after rolling back.

Thanks for trying to help me.
