No Footer on Title Slide

G

Guest

I've added a footer to my PowerPoint slides, but can't get it to appear on
the 1st slide. I'm using PowerPoint 2002.
- I've checked the Master Layout on the Master Slide and all placeholders
are checked.
- I've gone into "Header and Footer" and made sure the box for 'Don't show
on title slide' wasn't checked.

What am I doing wrong?

M

Michael Koerner

Under the View Header and Footer, did you put a checkmark in the footer box?
also do you have an image on the master that might be covering the footer area?

Yes, the "footer box" is checked.

There is an image on all of the pages, all slides are identical. The footer
appears on the other pages, just not the first page.

M

Michael Koerner

The footer according to what you say appears on all pages with the exception of
the first page. Have you tried duplicating the first page? Is there an image on
the first page that might cover the footer place holder?

Again . . . every page is identical. They all have the same image appearing
on them, but it's only the first page that won't display the footer.

I'm not quite sure why I would want to duplicate the first page, since
that's the page that won't display the footer. Wouldn't I be duplicating my
problem on every page?

Sometimes re creating the problem page clears up the problem If the material is
not sensitive, I would like to have a look at the presentation ( 2 or 3 slides)
If you would like to send me a copy, send to michael at oldfco dot ca.

Unless you explicitly apply a different AutoLayout, PowerPoint makes the first
slide a title slide. Check this:

Go to the first slide
View, Headers and Footers
Slides tab
If there's a checkmark next to "Don't show on title slide", remove it and click
Apply

Michael,

Since you offered, I just e-mailed a copy of the template to you to see if
you could figure out why the footer is not appearing.

Thanks so much for your offer to look at it. Now to continue on my search

Todd;

Received you presentation. I don't know what was wrong with the number 1 slide.
What I did was delete the "Title Master", then insert a new "Title Master" and
Title slide Now everything seems to be OK. There is really no reason to delete
the place holders, as they do not display until you enter some information. I
could not tell from the presentation what was a title slide, and what was an
information slide

I've added a footer to my PowerPoint slides, but can't get it to appear on
the 1st slide. I'm using PowerPoint 2002.
- I've checked the Master Layout on the Master Slide and all placeholders
are checked.
- I've gone into "Header and Footer" and made sure the box for 'Don't show
on title slide' wasn't checked.

What am I doing wrong?

Michael,

You're incredible! Your quick response is a life saver. I had never heard
of a Title Slide, so you not only helped solve the problem, but taught me
something at the same time.

The other problems are two different ones involving imported Excel
spreadsheets. In a presentation that includes various statistics, I need to
import 2-4 small spreadsheets into PowerPoint for monthly results. When I
import the spreadsheet, two problems occur:
1. The font gets hosed up to some bizarr size and font type.
2. Some header cells wrap, even if I enlarge the spreadsheet as wide as I
can possibly go.

Thanks again!

Todd;

Michael,

Since you offered, I just e-mailed a copy of the template to you to see if
you could figure out why the footer is not appearing.

Thanks so much for your offer to look at it. Now to continue on my search
for my OTHER PowerPoint problems :)

One other thing comes to mind, thanks to Steve R's suggestion. If in fact your
first slide is a Title slide, have a look in the Slide Master, title Master and
make sure that the Place Holder is there.

Again . . . every page is identical. They all have the same image appearing
on them, but it's only the first page that won't display the footer.

I'm not quite sure why I would want to duplicate the first page, since
that's the page that won't display the footer. Wouldn't I be duplicating my
problem on every page?

The footer according to what you say appears on all pages with the exception of
the first page. Have you tried duplicating the first page? Is there an image on
the first page that might cover the footer place holder?

Yes, the "footer box" is checked.

There is an image on all of the pages, all slides are identical. The footer
appears on the other pages, just not the first page.

:

Under the View Header and Footer, did you put a checkmark in the footer box?
also do you have an image on the master that might be covering the footer
area?

Steve Rindsberg has some excellent solutions on his FAQ page. Here is one to
start with which I hope helps..
