No driver for USB Drive in XP

C

Chris A

I've recently purchased a USB Drive, Sandisk Mini Cruzer
to be exact. Under Windows XP, the driver should already
be in place. However, this is not the case. The OS
fails to recognize the device. Either it is missing or
corrupted somehow.

I know the USB port works, as well as the drive.

I've tried importing XP drivers from another machine with
no success. I've also installed SP1a. Nothing seems to
work.

Any thoughts?

Does not work how? Explain what happens when you plug it in, what do you see
in My Computer and the Device Manager.

I'm having the same issue, all other USB devices work
except for iomega 2.0 128MB flash drive.

My computer and Device Manager does not respond at all.
Just hangs, no response, no display in My Computer of
anything, just the side bar and white screen where
content should be.

Device Manager does show Mass Storage, but when clicking
on properties, it hangs, no response.

I had a similar problem. Uninstall Cruzer Mini. Then uninstall SP1 then reinstall Cruzer mini and then reiinstall SP1. Mine worked this way

I have the same problem with the Sandisk Mini Cruzer 256. The XP system disk says "Includes Service Pack 1a." It has been suggested that I go to Microsofts web site and download SP1a, on the assumption that the integral SP1a the system was built with would download the missing driver. I'm concerned that this procedure might do serious damage to my system; however, it might also recognize the "existing" SP1a and refuse to download?? I also downloaded the Sandisk driver available only for Windows 98SE; it crashed on my XP system. Like you, I have used the Sandisk flashdrives (2 of them) on my Windows Millenium computer with no problem, and, also, the Windows XP USB hub works fine on a generic CompUSA 256 flashdrive I have. Have you solved your problem yet?
