I tried to set up a friends dial up internet connection.
When I go to Ntwk Connections, she doesn't have any at
all - she used to have them! If I try to add one
choosing the "have disk" option - it tells me there is no
modem. I can see the modem and its driver in Device
Manager (with no errors). If I try to add it manually,
the option for dial up is greyed out.

If I try to open the "phone and modem" option in the
control panel - it won't let me - just get an error.
Also cannot open any trouble shooters - nothing happens
at all (no errors).

She has had a few viruses recently which she has removed -
do you think I'll need to upgrade her WinXP to fix these
errors? Any ideas would be gratefully received as the 20
mile round trip is getting a bit tedious!

Thanks!
