No DHCP or Ping after XP SP2 install

After I installed XP Service pack 2 I can not get a DHCP
address from my Linksys router. If I put in a local
192.168.100.x address the link comes up but I still can't
ping the router at 192.168.100.1 or access the internet.
I even disabled the XP firewall.

Any ideas?

I thought Linksys defaults to a 192.168.1.x subnet with a router address
of 192.168.1.1. DHCP addresses normally start at 192.168.1.100 and go up.

The IPs were just an example.

When the XP firewall is disabled and it does not automatically recognize
a third-party firewall, it enables TCP/IP filtering and locks down all
ports and protocols (at least this is my view). Open TCP/IP properties
of the connection, General tab, Advanced properties, Options tab, TCP/IP
filtering properties, check Enable, and change Permit None to Permit
All.

I downloaded and ran WinSockXPFix. Network is fine now.
Thank Goodness!
